Buddies Josh Kelley and Ryan Cabrera Dish on Hitting the Road Together
From: People Magazine
Singer-songwriter Josh Kelley is definitely excited about his upcoming tour with friend Ryan Cabrera.
But he’s also kinda nervous.
“On the tour I’m probably going to get my first tattoo,” Kelley, 29, tells PEOPLE. “I’ve talked about doing it for years and years now. Once it’s on there, I’m sticking with it, so it better be cool!”
The tattoo is just one of many shenanigans the duo is planning for their “Tell It Like It Is” tour this spring, featuring Kelley and Cabrera, 26, together onstage for a full show. “Two guys, one stage,” Kelley says, “kind of like Simon and Garfunkel stuff, except we like each other.”
Since meeting six years ago at a concert in San Francisco, the duo have searched for an opportunity to play together onstage, until now. During the show they’ll play some of each other’s favorite songs, tell jokes, and share stories.
“You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll go home happy,” Kelley says.
Starting April 15 in Gainesville, Fla., the pair will take to the road on a tricked-out tour bus featuring eight bunk beds, a lounge with surround sound speakers, flatscreen televisions – “and a stripper pole,” Cabrera jokes.
“Yeah right!” Kelley says, adding that his wife, Katherine Heigl, “would kill me if there was a stripper pole. No way, dude. I want to make it home alive.”
Kelley told PEOPLE last year that he always works harder when his Emmy Award-winning wife is in the audience. Which raises the question: Will Heigl – whose character on Grey’s Anatomy has been diagnosed with terminal cancer – be joining the boys on tour?
“Yeah, I think so,” Kelley says. “She loves to go out on the road with me. She feels like she’s kind of slummin’ it, hangin’ with the boys. She’ll probably come to the New York shows, because then I’ll have a hotel room and she won’t have to stay on the bus!”

Josh will play the annual “Taste of St. Louis” festival later this month.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch describes ‘Taste’ as a “three-day celebration of local restaurants will run Sept. 26-28 at Soldiers Memorial Plaza, North Tucker Boulevard and Market Street in downtown St. Louis.”
I used to live in St. Louis and it’s a pretty cool event. Josh takes the stage at 7:30, September 27th, right before Soul Asylum. Admission is free!

Josh Kelley – Newport Music Hall – Columbus, OH
My Review: The Daylights, Josh Kelley, OneRepublic
February 25, 2008
Newport Music Hall
Columbus, OH
There’s nothing better than when your fave artists go on tour and come to your hometown. I’m used to having to travel anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours to go see an act, but that was not the case today. Josh Kelley came to me!
I didn’t know that there would be an opening act, but the Daylights sounded great. I like their sound.
I read last night that Josh was sick. During his set, he did mention having the flu, but I honestly couldn’t tell. He sounded good as always. He and his band always have a ton of energy and that’s refreshing!
I loved his story, during “Masterpiece” about going into Victoria’s Secret and “buying the slutiest shit I could find” for Katie. Everyone around me was cracking up after that!
I don’t know what it is about “Almost Honest”, but I just love that song! I was so excited when I heard the intro. I had my brother take video of it with the second camera. I also loved hearing “Only You” and “Amazing”, which was the song that made me a fan 5 years ago. Wow, I can’t believe it’s been that long! The only other song I really wanted to hear, but was left out of the set, was “Hard Times Happen”. It just gets me going!
So all in all, great night in Columbus! I will put the “Almost Honest” video as soon as it finishes uploading.
I didn’t stick around for OneRepublic. I was going to, but I wasn’t expecting the Daylights set and I was really hungry by the time Josh & co. got off the stage. Plus I’ve only heard 2 OneRepublic songs, so I figured I wasn’t invested enough to stay through their set. But I do love “Apologize”. That song is hot!
Here is the set list (I’m going from memory, so the order may be off, or I may have omitted some songs):
Two Cups of Coffee
Special Company
Amazing
Masterpiece
Hey Katie
Tidal Wave
Almost Honest
Unfair
Only You
Josh Kelley is a Road Warrior
He’s announced, in his latest MySpace blog, that there will be another round of tour dates set to start in late March. So if you didn’t get to see him this time around, you may still get your chance!
IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BE ANNOUNCING ANOTHER TOUR STARTING MARCH 23RD SO KEEP COMING BACK AND CHECKING SO YOU CAN GET YOUR TICKETS
In less than 3 hours, I will be grooving to the sounds of JK live. I can’t wait!
Unfair Music Video
I am very excited today as I will get to see Josh live again tonight! I’m not sure what the camera situation is as Newport, but I’m a pro at smuggling cameras in places when they aren’t allowed. So I hope to have plenty to share with you upon my return.
Now check out Josh’s music video for “Unfair”:
